Questions & Answers

1. What specific personal qualities make you especially qualified to be a judge?

I am a judicial officer with years of experience in court. I manage full calendars, render difficult rulings, and treat parties and personnel with dignity and respect. I have sound judgment and even temperament. I have been rated "well-qualified" by the LA County Bar Association.

2. Do you favor alternative sentences for non-violent offenders in view of the current prisoner overcrowding problems, and if so, what options should be available?

As a judicial officer and judicial candidate, I must exercise caution in taking positions on matters that may come before me and may reflect on my impartiality. I have been studying the principles of restorative justice and alternative sentencing, and I am intrigued by innovative ideas that lead to offender accountability and restoring balance to the lives of victims and communities.
