Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I'm a native Southern Californian, and I've happily lived in Torrance for over 31 years. I have planted my roots deep. I'm the father of 2 sons, now 21 and 22, who both attended Torrance Public Schools from Kindergarten to graduation from South High. Their participation in excellent programs including AYSO soccer, Little League and School Band are additional reasons it has been good to live in Torrance.

The reasons I moved here over 31 years ago are the same as why I stay today - great location, vibrant businesses, excellent schools, safe neighborhoods, and friendly people who care about our community. What a great City! I love it here! In 1986, I started and built my own Computer Systems and Networking business here in Torrance, which, after almost 15 years of growth, I sold in 2000, just prior to the so-called `dot-com' crash. Being a business owner and employer has given me countless skills that will be very beneficial to executing the duties of City Councilperson.

In addition to raising a family and starting and running a successful business, I have devoted more than 17 years of volunteer community service in an effort to give something back to this community, which has given so much to me. I want to see our City remain a vibrant place, a place that people WANT to live, work, and shop. My community service includes volunteering for the City as a Commissioner on multiple Commissions. Currently I am serving on the Torrance Planning Commission, and previously served 8 years on the Environmental Quality and Energy Conservation Commission, the last 3 years of which I served as Chairperson.

Giving back is not a new idea for me. I began volunteering with the Torrance South-Bay YMCA 17 years ago, serving in many capacities. Most significantly, for each of the last 4 years I was asked to lead a group of almost 300 volunteers to conduct the YMCA's annual support campaign. During that period, we have raised millions of dollars, which stays right here in our community to serve those who otherwise could not afford the valuable programs that the Y conducts such as senior meals and programs, swim lessons, summer camps, and childcare, just to name a few. I am honored that they asked me to serve in this role again for my 5th year. The YMCA is dedicated to improving our community and serving its residents, which is a primary reason I continue my efforts for them. As my children attended Torrance schools, I volunteered in many roles, including band board member, graduation committee member, field trip chaperone, and many other un-named jobs. Without involvement from parent volunteers, our schools could never shine as brightly as they do. In 2008, I completed my training as a Torrance CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) member, such that when a disaster comes, I will be in a position to assist our community in its time of need. I regularly participate in practice drills and ongoing training to keep my skills current.

I also was fortunate enough to have had the time to be the primary caretaker for both of my parents as they each fought, and ultimately lost their battles against cancer over the past 12 years. This process probably taught me more than all my years of school and work combined, strengthening my skills including patience, compassion, and dedication, to name just a few.

Those who serve our community in leadership positions must adhere to the ideals of integrity and trustworthiness. As a former Boy Scout, and church-going member of our community, and all the reasons stated earlier, I have a proven track record as being that kind of person.

With a majority of the City Council seats (FOUR) up for election, and with no elected incumbents running, its crucial to elect people with proven EXPERIENCE. My background in successful business ownership, City Government experience, and Community Service makes me very well qualified to work as your City Councilmember.

I want to see Torrance guided by people who have this same caring for our City, and who will work intelligently FOR the residents who live here. I'm ready for this challenge. I have the time, the desire, and the qualifications to represent you as one of your City Councilmembers.

Thank you very much for your consideration! I want to work for YOU! I look forward to earning your vote June 3rd.
