Dear Neighbors:

It has been an honor to serve as your Councilmember for the last six years. I have truly enjoyed representing the residents and businesses in the City of Torrance, and I am proud of the work I've been able to accomplish. Now, I look forward to serving as the next Mayor of our great city.

I am excited about the future of Torrance. While other cities had to make major cuts due to the economic downturn, Torrance has been fiscally responsible and we have seen almost no appreciable reductions in public safety and other municipal services.

The outlook for Torrance is bright, but we need the right leadership and experience in the coming years to grow upon our successes.

As a long-time President of my neighborhood homeowner association, I fought along side of you to preserve our neighborhoods from senseless overdevelopment. As a former President of the Torrance Education Foundation, I worked with you to find new ways to fund essential and innovative programs in Torrance's great public schools. As a Torrance Civil Service Commissioner and TUSD Personnel Commissioner, I ensured that our city and school district had the best employees possible, while protecting workers' rights.

I proudly served as a founding member of Mayor Frank Scotto's Blue Ribbon Committee on Ethics & Integrity, where we led the charge for political campaign reform and transparency in our local government.

My wife Terry and I have lived in Torrance for almost 30 years. We raised our children in Torrance and educated them in Torrance schools and now our grandchildren attend our local schools too. Our entire family is committed to making Torrance a better place to live, to raise a family and to do business.

As our next Mayor, I am committed to:

- Strengthening Public Safety and other City Services
- Improving our children's safety while at school
- Attracting quality businesses that bring new, good paying jobs
- Modernizing our aging infrastructure
- Resolving our traffic problems
- Bringing our information technology into the 21st Century
- Protecting our neighborhoods from overdevelopment
- Promoting affordable programs for seniors and children
- Keeping our local government transparent
- Maintaining a balanced budget

To accomplish all these things will not be easy. But, with your support and involvement, we can do it!

If you have any questions or ideas, please feel free to email me at pat@councilmanpatfurey.com or call me directly at (310) 613-9099.

Together We Can Keep Torrance Moving in the Right Direction!
