PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Sutter County Assessor's Office

Chief Appraiser 1/09 to Present
This position requires extensive knowledge of all types of property appraisal, as well laws and regulations governing the practices of the office. In addition, this position requires staff coordination for an office of 22 employees including direct supervision of eight appraisers, three auditors, and two support staff. Contributed to the continued success of the office through a period of declining real estate market values, quadrupling of appraiser workloads, loss of staff due to budget cuts, department head change and furloughs.

Butte County Assessor's Office Real Property Appraiser + Principal 4/06 to 1/09 Real Property Appraiser III 4/96 to 4/06 Served as the primary commercial appraiser for the Chico Urban Area which required the maintenance of assessments for all commercial and industrial use properties within this jurisdiction. This position required extensive knowledge and implementation of the California Revenue and Taxation Code, as well as the collection and maintenance of sales and income data for the valuation function. Additionally, this role required presenting the Assessor side of valuation appeal hearing cases before the Board of Supervisors, as well as positive public relations and effective, timely correspondence with taxpayers.

California Appraisals Real Estate Appraiser 7/90 to 4/96 Performed commercial, residential and agricultural appraisal services as an independent contractor for a privately owned real estate appraisal company, and provided reports and official forms for banks, government agencies and individuals.

Yuba County Assessor's Office Real Property Appraiser II 9/86 to 7/90 Trained in public service and appraisal fundamentals. Collected and analyzed data while maintaining accurate assessment values for approximately 5,000 residential and commercial properties in Yuba County.
