Smart Voter Official Statement for Bill Connelly

Candidate for
Assessor; County of Butte

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

Bill Connelly

Assessor

Occupation: Self-Employed and Butte County Supervisor

The county assessor is elected to protect you from the overzealous application of tax rates on your property. As your Assessor, I will enforce Prop. 13 and always stand between you and government bureaucracy.

I am a life-long citizen of Butte County, self-employed for over 25 years and a County Supervisor for nine years. My policies will start and end with fair and polite treatment of the public. There should be fewer mandates pushed on to the people and more education by the Assessor's department.

The assessor's department requires upgrades. I will lobby for and grant write for those upgrades which improve public service. None of this may happen without a team effort with the other County departments and the public.

My record on the Butte County Board of Supervisors stands. We balanced the budget during bad economic times and made many improvements in public access to services.

I am a member of the Masons, Shrine Club, American Legion, Eagles, Farm Bureau, Cattlemen's Association, the Moose, Native Sons, Ducks Unlimited, and several other local organizations.

I have received many endorsements. The most important endorsement is your vote. I humbly request your vote for the Assessors position.
