A FAIR DEAL FOR PENNSYLVANIA FAMILIES
The Keystone State sits atop one of the largest natural gas fields in the world, and yet Pennsylvania receives less than any other state in the country from natural gas drillers that profit from this abundant resource. Rob McCord believes the natural gas industry should pay its fair share and embrace best practices that protect Pennsylvania's health, safety, and natural resources.
INVESTING WHERE IT COUNTS: The McCord Plan for Making Smart Investments in Early Education and K-12 Public Schools
Pennsylvania is facing a public education crisis. After $1 billion in education cuts, test scores have fallen, and children are crammed into overcrowded classrooms following more than 20,000 teacher layoffs. The state is clearly not living up to its constitutional obligation to provide for a thorough system of public education. Rob McCord intends to change that by making public education his top priority as governor.
RESTORING THE VALUE OF WORK: Increase the Minimum Wage to $10.70 per Hour
Today, too many Pennsylvanians find themselves working twice as hard to get half as far. Rob McCord wants to swiftly lift thousands of families out of poverty by raising the minimum wage to $10.70 during his first year in office (the boldest plan put forth by any candidate) - and to $11.60 within 10 years. He also wants to raise the tipped minimum wage from $2.83 per hour to $5 (the first such increase since 1998).
