Jim Lewis is founder & president of Charis (kair-is) Nonprofit which provides executive management and consulting for nonprofits and small business.

Jim has over 20 years of executive leadership in both corporate and nonprofit organizations and most recently as president and CEO of Long Beach Rescue Mission and its Foundation.

Jim's career was founded in service, starting in the U.S. Navy. His local community involvements have included:

 Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, as a member of its Government Affairs Council

 7-time Delegate to the Cal-Chamber Sacramento Legislative Summit

 Course Day Chair for Leadership Long Beach

 Business Forum Speaker at the Long Beach Police Academy

 An elected member of RDA's Central Project Area Committee

 Chairman of the Greater Long Beach Leadership Prayer Breakfast

 Long Beach Gang Reduction, Intervention, and Prevention Taskforce

Jim earned his Master of Arts in Global Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary, and received a graduate certificate in Nonprofit Organization Management from UC Riverside. He recently earned the professional designation as Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE© ).

Jim Lewis has been married to his wife, Leslie for 35 years; they have four grown children; live in Bluff Park; and attend Grace Brethren Church of Long Beach.

Jim has been married 35 years to his wonderful wife, Leslie, who gets much of the credit for raising their four gifted children who make them very proud. They are members of Grace Brethren Church Long Beach, which seeks the blessing and flourishing of our city, its communities, and its people.

Amanda bicycled from San Diego to Guatemala, served with the Peace Corps in Madagascar and is completing an M.A. at UC Davis. Emily, married to Chris, a software programmer, is a High School guidance counselor.
