My position for district 3
Being your Councilwoman... Its about understanding the issues, impediments and options, and to provide the information, avenues and guidance for the best outcome that encompasses the beliefs and desires of the community at large. I believe the 3rd District needs to build a stronger `Sense of Connection', To aid this vision, I will be begin web charting the interests with ongoing updates and resolutions so that all can stay abreast, as well as the ability to provide your feedback and input online. A Neighborhoods/District Wide Newsletter and Mobil App are also part of this plan. Community Involvement... Is more than just putting the word out, its also about collaboration. Bringing it to the table. Not just General, Business and Community Meetings, but `Round Tables'. Discussions that provide an additional avenue for everyone to become fully involved. Determine, Define and Implement is `The Method' to successful outcomes. Safety Sessions on Neighborhood Security... Incorporated within our Safety Meetings, to understand the technologies and how best to incorporate them in order to build that sense of shield. Crime knows no boundaries, and forming a Public Safety Association along with the implementation of Community Watch Groups, can aid in combating this ongoing problem. Nothing fights off crime better than the constant eyes and ears of the public. Strengthening our Business Climate... Is another integral step I will pursue, that begins with building Business Alliances & Development of Active Focus Groups, which will include forecasting and planning for the future with the development of `Event Track', a multi- corridor model that takes advantage of current and ongoing events to build a greater continuity from PCH (Our Gateway) to Livingston Ave. Additionally, connecting higher education with businesses that promotes development from within. Entry level jobs with emphases on key elements that not only aid with day-to-day operations, but develops youths minds for a better understanding of best practices. Education... I want to begin building stronger community partnerships with our libraries, and to get our youth more involved in Study Groups, Volunteer Work, and develop more programs like `BARK' that will ultimately create a new mindset into today's children and youth for a better tomorrow. Local Development Concerns... Know one has all the answers, rather, its about doing our best to assure the information is provided and the solutions have incorporated the communities feedback. Sometimes it's not about what one person thinks, rather, what develops from the group. Re-Visioning of our SEADIP Plan is important, as its support the future of our Wetlands which in turn provides an important avenue to become more knowledgeable about our ecosystem. Ultimately, I will seek to prioritize funding so that your tax dollars are focused on Infrastructure, Parks, Libraries and Protection of the neighborhoods. Being your council person... is also about being approachable and the capacity to invest and dedicate the time to the businesses and residents 24/7. To attain the highest goals for Growth, Prosperity and Fulfillment. But it takes everyone's participation, getting involved, and staying involved. Martha Flores-Gibson.
