I grew up in Fairfield, CT and graduated from the K-12 public schools there. I then graduated from Dartmouth College in 1977. I was a multi-sport athlete and was active in the performing arts and school leadership. My educational experiences in Fairfield and at Dartmouth gave me an appreciation for a comprehensive education accessible to all students.

I have been married for 23 years, and my wife Mary and I chose to raise our four children in Piedmont because it represents the best of all possible worlds: a beautiful setting, an active community, and excellent public schools. Since we moved here in 1996, I have been immersed in educational issues. I served on the Havens Site Council, the Piedmont Educational Foundation and co-chaired the recent School Parcel Tax campaign. I am passionate about the role education plays in all our futures.

Away from Piedmont, my passion for education has kept me involved in two other causes, Dartmouth College and the San Francisco Girls Chorus. I have been an active Dartmouth alumnus in class activities and on fundraising and steering committees since graduation in 1977. Additionally, I served on the San Francisco Girls Chorus board for over a decade. During my tenure, we secured a building to house the Chorus school, completed searches for executive and artistic leadership positions and worked with parents and singers to balance Chorus traditions with vital, forward-leaning programs.

My 30-year Wall Street career at Lehman Brothers and Barclays provided valuable experience growing successful businesses in competitive and evolving markets. Success required understanding employees and clients, articulating strategic plans and producing desired outcomes. I believe these are skills necessary for a role on the school board.

I left my full time career earlier this year to pursue other interests. One of those is my strong desire to play a leadership role in Piedmont's school system.
