Insuring Health and Safety

By Paul J. Wechsler, III

Candidate for Commissioner; Township of Springfield; Ward 4

This information is provided by the candidate
Maintain the public safety initiatives that protect our citizens.Continue to provide resources to our outstanding police and fire departments, emergency responders-in addition to our dedicated township employees.

Our Police department was the first in Delaware County to receive the prestigious "Accredited" designation.

I have been on the forefront of opposition to Billboards in Springfield. They pose a threat to the safety and welfare of our citizens. Our strategy to keep them out has been successful and we have prevailed in all appellate courts. I pledge to continue this fight as it continues with additional applications to the zoning hearing board.

We maintain a dedicate highway department that ensures our streets are kept clean, snow is removed on a timely basis and additional services such as leaf removal continue to our residents.

Trash is collected twice a week and we continue to be recognized for our outstanding recycling record. Our recycling level of compliance is extremely high and this provides a positive economic benefit as well as a positive environmental effect.

During my term of office we revised zoning ordinances. Some of the positive effects of this can be seen in the "GREENING" of Baltimore Pike as new businesses move in and meet the landscaping requirements.
