Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Thomas P. Wagner

Candidate for
Council Member; Township of Upper Darby; Ward 3

This information is provided by the candidate

Upper Darby is a wonderful community within the inner suburban ring surrounding Philadelphia. My wife and I have lived here since 1978. We have raised our 5 children here, and we plan to remain for the long term. The Township is remarkable in its diversity. It is an established community, with all the elements to continue thriving as a great place for people to raise their families.

In order for the Township to remain a vital and viable family community, we must have safe streets. It has been a first priority of my 8 years on the Town Council to support our Police and do all that is necessary to provide them with the resources they need to do their jobs. I beleive that we have an outstanding Police force, consisting of excellent officers and command personnel. We must continue to insist on excellence in all they do. An essential part of that mission requires us to select first caliber people to fill the department's ranks. I have been proud to participate in that selection process, and will contiue to do so.

Our Mayor is committed to attracting more businesses into Upper Darby. This is essential if we are to solve our property tax problem. Without safe streets, the effort to attract new commercial development would be doomed.

We must continue to insist, as well, on the highest possible quality in our school system. This, too, is a vital way to attract new business, and new residents.
