Shall the McKeesport Home Rule Charter be amended, as more fully set forth in Ordinance No. 13-16, as follows?

Question #6

Articles VIII and X. The Department of Law and City Attorney shall be changed to Solicitor. The Solicitor may also be a law firm and shall be appointed by and may be terminated by the Mayor. A majority of Council shall approve the appointment of the Solicitor.

Impartial Analysis
If this question is approved by a majority of those voting, the McKeesport Home Rule Charter will be amended to remove all reference to the City Attorney and the Department of Law shall be changed to Solicitor. The Solicitor shall be a person or law firm duly qualified to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The appointment of the Solicitor by the Mayor shall be approved by Council. If terminated by the Mayor, the Solicitor shall serve until a replacement is appointed and approved.
