Why I am running

By Andrew S. Pappas

Candidate for Trustee; Township of Anderson

This information is provided by the candidate
This pretty much sums up why I am running for office.
I am running for Trustee to get involved and stop yelling at the TV and newspaper. I think it's high time normal Americans get involved with government and what better way than at the local level. It's hard to change America or Ohio; it starts by changing your local government. If every locale would just take care of itself, the big picture would fall in line. I will bring my skills and experience gained in the private sector to ensure Anderson Township continues to provide the highest level of service to our citizens.

I have been heavily involved with both the TEA party and the GOP for the past several elections. I have traveled to DC to meet with our local politicians and work with other grass roots volunteers across this country. I have also fostered a relationship with Freedomworks in DC, as well as with our local state representative Peter Stautberg and our local congressional representatives Brad Wenstrup and Senator Rob Portman. I am proudly a conservative and make no bones about it. You will know where I stand on issues based upon those 3 values that the TEA party advocates, Fiscal Responsibility, Limited Government and Free Markets. I think the constitution is the most important document that was Divinely inspired and has been sadly ignored as of late, by both parties. I am a conservative first, Republican second. This does not mean I will ignore those who disagree with my philosophy, it simply explains my point of view. If elected, I will be a representative of all the people, not just those who are conservative. We must all get along.

Anderson Township is great place to live and work. We have great schools, beautiful neighborhoods, a vibrant commercial corridor and great parks and soon to be revamped entertainment venues. Anderson has done well under great leadership. We must however, do what every family in America has had to do: live within our means. We must be as frugal with the public purse as we are with our own. I am not criticizing any past decisions, I am just addressing the perception that Anderson Township has not been financially responsible with the public purse.

I have a business that has been in Anderson for nearly 20 years. I not only live here, I work here. I travel Beechmont Avenue daily, almost continually, and know how important this commercial artery is to Anderson.

In my business and activist life I continually meet locals and see the hardships that they are going through in these tough economic times. I see how they are stretching every dollar as never before. We are all trying to get by with less and we need leaders locally who understand that. I will bring a business perspective to local government and seek your support.
