Questions & Answers

1. What services do you believe should be considered basic and essential for the Village?

Smaller urban communities like Golf Manor need to concentrate on smart budgeting to sustain the infrastructure and maintain strong police, fire and essential services. This needs to be accomplished through looking at each expenditure for whether or not it meets the criteria of creating a responsible & accountable government that answers to the taxpayers while ensuring the community is sustainable and a friendly, livable place to reside.

2. How would you balance the Village Budget?

By engaging the heads of essential service departments (Fire, Police and City Services) to collaborate on scrutinizing expenditures to ensure they are essential and adding value to the community. This includes making wise use of available technology, grants and managing taxes in the smartest way possible. I want to engage our village employees in soliciting their ideas for cost savings and then implementing those ideas that make sense and offer true value to the taxpayers.

3. Citizen engagement is important to the health of local government. In what ways do you support citizen engagement?

I am open to citizen engagement and want to see further use of social media like the GM website, Facebook, Nextdoor and the Time Warner information screen to allow notification on what is happening in the village. Also by participating in the Recreation Commission, Concerned Citizens and Neighbor to Neighbor groups to engage and solicit feedback from the residents. I plan to have an open door to interaction as well as encourage participation in the political process through voting and encouraging others to run for public office in the Village.
