? 1. What services do you believe should be considered basic and essential for the Village?

Answer from Shirley A. (Gray) Jason:

I believe first and foremost the most basic service, is one of Leadership. I believe TRUE leadership starts at the top, a leader leads by example, a leader ask questions, a leader listens, and a leader represents everyone.

I believe the services of our law-enforcement/Fire department is vital for the safety and protection of our community.

? 2. How would you balance the Village Budget?

Answer from Shirley A. (Gray) Jason:

First,I would balance the Village Budget by analyzing REAL budgetary figures first. Second, I would analyze all paid positions against the needs and services necessary to perform the daily functions of the village, and align positions and salaries accordingly. Third, I would start a image building campaign to attract the 147,000 vehicles; which passes through Silverton on a daily basis, to attract new residents and new businesses, so our Village tax base will increase. Lastly, I would operate the village on FAIRNESS to everyone who does business in the Village of Silverton.

? 3. Citizen engagement is important to the health of local government. In what ways do you support citizen engagement?

Answer from Shirley A. (Gray) Jason:

I believe in 100% citizen engagement support; as a resident, citizen, and leader, my involvement is inclusive of being a member of the following: Welcoming Committee, Block Watch Association, Beautification Committee, Housing Committee, Organized 1st all level candidate forum in Silverton, advocate for youth by being involved with Silverton Paideia Academy School (PTO, Grand's Day, Classroom sponsorship, Teacher's Appreciation and being a good neighbor). Involvement is the key to success, growth and development.
