Dear Neighbor,

Today in Redwood City, we are adding new buildings, new cars, and new people as fast as we can. It is great to have a booming economy, but what are the repercussions?

  • We are building thousands of luxury homes but very few affordable ones. Rents have doubled for many of us over the past decade, and my own mother left as a result. How about some homes that regular people can buy?
  • We shouldn't have to lose what makes our once small, friendly town special as we become a metropolis. We want to be part of a community and maintain our quality of life, and we can't rubberstamp every developer's project that comes our way. Unchecked growth means more crowds, more traffic, and more noise, and it doesn't protect the next generation.
  • Construction is happening everywhere, and developers are cashing in while the average person's concerns about housing costs, parking, and traffic often go unheard. That's not the leadership that I, and many of you, want.

As your representative, I will work hard to make sure we have sustainable choices. Projects that don't pollute our environment or overextend our resources. An economy that includes more families. Local jobs. Housing for seniors. Schools, not jails. A city where our kids can make a life, even without stock options in a tech company.

With your support and input, I will plan for our future with the right kind of judgment. Together, we can ensure that Redwood City stays a great place to live.

I'd appreciate your vote.

James
