I was born in Fort Ord, raised in Seaside, and presently make my home in Marina. My parents emigrated from the Philippines and came to the area because of my father's military service.

I have been married for 23 years to my wife Kim (formerly Pisto) and we have two sons, a college freshman (Cal State, Channel Islands) and a high school junior (Monte Vista Christian School).

I am a graduate of Seaside High School. I have a bachelor's degree and a doctorate of jurisprudence. I am an attorney and have been practicing locally for over 20 years, mostly representing small business concerns. I am licensed in California, Hawaii, and the District of Columbia.

I recently completed two years as President of the Board of the Door to Hope. My community service includes serving on the boards of the United Way of the Monterey Peninsula, Kiwanis Club of Monterey, Legal Aid of the Central Coast, and the NAACP.

I have served as a judge pro tem since 1999 with the Superior Courts of the Monterey County and Santa Clara Superior Courts, have served two terms on the Monterey County Grand Jury, and am a 1995 graduate of Leadership Monterey Peninsula.
