I have spent my entire career dedicated to education. Through my experience in every level of education, I have developed a deep understanding of the needs of the students, teachers, administration and the community, and this will be a great asset to the Board of Trustees. My proven leadership will help move our High School District in a forward direction, and I will use this experience to:

Strengthen the curriculum and program offerings for our students In our schools, we have all kinds of learners, and we need to create opportunity for each and every one of them. We need a meaningful and rigorous curriculum that can address not only academics but school to work programs, advanced placement classes and vocational training that prepares our students for good jobs. Our students deserve better curriculum integration with the California Community College, California State University and University of California systems to help ensure that they achieve the highest level of education they desire.

Establish a state of the art technology magnet high school The creation of creative magnet schools can maximize our students' educational opportunities + high tech public schools with specialized instruction and open enrollment. These schools have proven to be incredibly successful in other communities, and Salinas would benefit greatly from this type of instruction.

Practice sound financial management that results in balanced budgets and reserves for the future I understand day to day school finance, and will be a strong voice for fiscal accountability, assuring balanced budgets, reserves for the future and the necessary funding to support and enhance both teaching and learning. I am committed to seeking out new revenues and ensuring that there is strong oversight, spending is efficient and accountability is at the highest level.
