Michael Goodhue Platform and Goals

By Michael D. Goodhue

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Hermosa Beach City Elementary School District

This information is provided by the candidate
I've been a Hermosa Beach resident since 1995 and a parent of a child in Valley. Hermosa Beach School's are some of the best in the area and we need to maintain our excellence during difficult times while ensuring we prepare our kids for a success in High School.
We face challenging times for our district given the state budgetary pressures, increasing enrollment, and the challenges for preparing our kids for the future.

Passion: Let's bring the passion back to our kids, the schools, and our district. Create opportunity for kids to develop a passion and learn from our teachers and each other in school activities, sports, arts, and science.

Community: Let's bring our community closer to our schools and the school board. Support that passion. Let our teachers, parents, alumni and community provide an environment and mentoring in Hermosa Schools to help our kids thrive and develop their passion. Consider working with adjacent school districts resources and programs for activities and academics. Create options for growth and understand our financial position to support our growth.

Success in High School: Carry that passion into High School. Understand the curriculum path, activities, and skills for our kids that position them for success in high school and beyond. This includes the overall experience in Hermosa Schools, the transition to CORE curriculum, offered electives, accelerated classes, and ....passion!

Vote for Goodhue on November 5th: Hermosa Beach has the best kids, hardworking parents and teachers. As part of the Hermosa Beach School Board I will work hard to work with the community, our parents, teachers and Superintendent to make this happen!

Top Priorities if Elected

  • Fundraising! Immediately review all funding opportunities to support future budgets given 20% reduction from state funding (LCFF)

  • Maintain high achievement and public private school environment to balance growth, class size, electives, & after school activities for best education

  • Prepare for High School Success: A clear K-8 curriculum that builds skills and keeps our kids engaged and challenged through middle school
