Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Glendora Unified School District

Chuck and his wife Tricia moved to Glendora in 1987 specifically because of the outstanding reputation of the schools. Their two daughters, Alison and Sarah, received their K-12 education in the Glendora Unified School District, their undergraduate degrees at Wesleyan and St. Lawrence Universities, and their Graduate degrees in Law and Social Work at USC.

Dr. Gomer is currently the Vice Chairman of Pediatrics for Faculty Affairs and a professor of Pediatrics and Radiation Oncology at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. He is also the Director of the Radiation Biology Cancer research Laboratory at Children's Hospital Los Angeles where he is an internationally recognized expert on the medical applications of lasers. Chuck was the Founding Director of the Children's Hospital Research Institute and he has been a scientific advisor to the National Institute of Health, the National Cancer Institute, and the Department of Defense. Chuck teaches graduate students and medical residents. He also mentors high school, college, graduate school and medical school students in his laboratory.

Chuck was first elected to the Glendora Unified School District Board of Education in 1997. He is currently serving his fourth term as President of the Board. He is the Board representative to the Glendora PTA Council and a member of the District's College Going Culture Committee. Chuck is most proud of the educational achievements of our students, the continued focus on rigorous and relevant course work, the outstanding efforts of our talented and dedicated teachers and staff, the increased involvement and support of our parents and community, the active partnership the District enjoys with the City of Glendora, and the financially sound and balanced budget the District diligently works to maintain.
