Julie grew up in South Pasadena, attending SPUSD schools from kindergarten until she graduated from South Pasadena High School. She returned in 1996 with her husband Peter (whom you've likely seen coaching soccer of calling Bingo on Saturday nights) when her eldest was ready to start first grade.

Over the past 17 years, Julie has held countless volunteer leadership roles at Marengo, SPMS, and SPHS, allowing her to become familiar with the unique needs at all levels within the district.

On the professional front, Julie is the co-founder and principal of a consulting firm, DesignArounds, that helps organizations to improve business results though training and development. She works with clients domestically and internationally to design, develop and facilitate award-winning training on a range of leadership, management, sales and customer service topics.

Previously, Julie:
-Led the product development department for AchieveGlobal, a large commercial training company.
-Held learning management position in the insurance and retail industries. Taught high school and college.
-Was department chair at Woodbury University.

Julie is the co-author of the Amazon bestseller, Help Them Grow or Watch Them Go: Career Conversations Employees Want. She's a sought-after speaker and regular contributor to several publications.
