Accomplishments:

  • Adopted new district mission and vision statements.
  • Improved test scores over past 4 years.
  • Creation of new facility master plan with community input. * Launched Oak Knoll Virtual Academy.
  • Protected professional development funding.
  • Facility upgrades at COHS, Willow, Badillo, & Glen Oak. Improvements at remaining schools are scheduled. Supported Measure CO, a general obligation bond needed to accomplish our new facility master plan.The master plan will improve district facilities and technology. The signature project is a new aquatics center at COHS.
  • Technology upgrades across the entire district including parent portal, fiber optics network and classroom technology (i.e. SMART boards).
  • Golden Bell Award from the California School Boards Association for service to COHS English Language Learners.
  • Created partnership with COPE (Charter Oak Partners in Education Foundation), non-profit organization.
  • Cedargrove, Glen Oak and Willow Elementary Schools named Title I High Performing Schools.
  • COHS class of 2013 had a 99% graduation rate.
  • COHS named in the top 1500 high schools in the nation by both Washington Post and Newsweek.
  • Established the Energy Education Program, saving thousands of dollars through energy cost avoidance.
