Edgar Cisneros is a lifelong resident of Montebello Unified and is a very proud product of its public schools. Edgar was born in East Los Angeles and raised in the South Montebello neighborhood where he is now raising his own children today.

He is the first from his family to graduate from high school and college. He attended Greenwood Elementary, Montebello Intermediate and Montebello High School prior to graduating from California State University, Long Beach where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.

Edgar has spent the last decade working to improve the quality of life for working families in state and local government. He previously worked as a district representative and press secretary for retired State Senator Martha Escutia. For the last six years he has served Bell Gardens, Commerce, East Los Angeles and Montebello, the communities that make up most of the Montebello Unified School District on behalf of the County of Los Angeles as the Senior Field Deputy for Supervisor Gloria Molina.

Edgar and his wife Jessica, who is a teacher for Whittier City School District, are the proud parents of Vicente and Valentina. Vicente who is 4 years old, is very active in the community himself, having just finished a term at Selva Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Montebello and his first baseball season at Saybrook Park in East Los Angeles. Currently, he is also playing his first soccer season at Montebello City Park.

For now, Valentina is her dad's lovely little assistant, frequently attending events with him such as the recent grand opening of the brand new synthetic soccer fields at Bell Gardens' Ford Park which Edgar worked to construct, on behalf of the County.

Currently Edgar supports our local youth in their athletic and academic pursuits by volunteering as a mentor for the Montebello Unified School District's "College Bound Today" program; as an advisory board member for the East Los Angeles Community Youth Center; and as a volunteer youth sports coach.

Edgar seeks to serve on the Montebello Unified School District (MUSD) Board of Education because he believes that with a strong advocate and innovative leader, MUSD can become Southern California's premier school system. He feels that MUSD has some of the most dedicated and talented teachers and staff who are achieving at a high level, but they need more support.

As a board member, Edgar will work to ensure the district is supporting our teachers and giving them all the tools they need to help their students succeed. He will also work to ensure taxpayer money is spent wisely so the effects are felt in the classroom. Edgar believes that classroom sizes should be reduced and that MUSD should focus on building state of the art school facilities equipped with modern technology so our students can compete globally.

Edgar understands the importance of providing quality educational opportunities for all students. As the first in his family to graduate from high school and college, he greatly appreciates the value of a quality public- school education and its role in preparing our youth for future success. His mother who is a childcare worker and his father who is a truck driver are his inspiration. Both emigrated from Mexico in their teens and they each impressed a strong work ethic on Edgar from an early age.

Edgar is running for Montebello School Board because he has the experience and ability to yield effective results for the students of Montebello Unified. He urges you to contact him by calling (323) 425- 9174, via email at edgar4MUSD@gmail.com or Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/edgarpcisneros so that you can ask any questions regarding his campaign or share your ideas on how to improve the district.

Edgar can't do it without you, so he would be proud and honored to receive your support in this November 5 election.

Thank you!
