JESSICA ANCONA - Candidate for El Monte City School District Board of Education

As a resident of this community for more than 30 years, a graduate of the El Monte City School District, and a proud parent of 2 children enrolled in the El Monte City School District, I have a vested interest in serving as a member of the Board of Education. My educational and professional background equips me with the knowledge and experience to extend insight, leadership and make sound decisions regarding the improvement in education the students enrolled in the District so deserve.

I would appreciate your vote and the opportunity to work hard for our children as a governing board member of the El Monte City School District.

My goals for my children and yours are simple:

• Ensure each student receives an education that will make them responsible citizens and lifelong learners.
• Maintain safe and secure schools.
• Close the achievement gap.
• Demand that the budget is spent on what is best for students.

As an educator for over 13 years, my professional experience in the local educational system has allowed me to gain experience in school administration, instruction and curriculum, categorical programs and budgets, test administration, and parent involvement. I have taken on extra-curricular duties as a softball coach and cheer adviser and was afforded the opportunity to work and get involved with different aspects of the school community working with some very talented young students and caring parents. I offer this expertise to the Board of Education.

During these challenging economic times, it is important to maintain student academic achievement and safe schools at the forefront. My interests, experience and passion in the area of education combined with my active involvement with the many changes taking place in education will ensure that you have an informed and engaged board member.
