Eric Lewis, 41, is no stranger to a life dedicated to public service.

Educated and motivated by his father's volunteer work as a planning commissioner for the city of Thousand Oaks in the 1980's and as an elected city council member and mayor in the 1990's, Eric began his service to his community the same way as his father--as president of his home owners' association. Eric's first term on the HOA board of directors focused on water conservation and an environmentally friendly fencing project. It also put him on a path to election to the Winnetka Neighborhood Council.

As the current president of the Winnetka Neighborhood Council, Eric has worked to support respected local and city organizations, including the Junior Blind Olympics, One Generation, Valley Village, West Valley Regional Occupational Center, LAUSD, LAFD, and LAPD. In addition, he has completed projects that focus on increased historical awareness and community improvement. As an elected volunteer, Eric understands the importance of personal responsibility to help create a better quality of life for the entire community.

The son of Robert and Kathleen Lewis, Eric was born in 1972 at an overseas U.S. Army base during his father's military service. Growing up in Thousand Oaks, he witnessed first-hand the positive effect that dedicated volunteer service to the community can have on a city, as well as a family. His father's role as author of the city's slow-growth ordinance, Measure A, as well as other important pieces of local legislation, set a benchmark that inspires Eric to pursue for the 45th District--responsible, safe, progressive growth that serves a diverse community.

Raised in one of the nation's safest suburban areas, across the street from the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, Eric remains a strong supporter of public safety and environmental protection. As a young student, he attended the area's public schools. At high school, Eric participated in the school's honors program and was in the school's nationally recognized drum line. Upon graduation, he followed his parents and brother into California's UC system.

Eric was graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1995 with a degree in Mathematical Sciences. While attending UCSB, he held several extra-curricular positions including serving on the board of directors for multiple campus organizations: Associated Students Program Board, KCSB-91.9FM, and Campus Point magazine, as the magazine's Editor-In-Chief.

Before graduation, Eric worked in Santa Barbara as a disc jockey at KJEE-FM. After graduation, he was recruited in Chicago as the producer of a highly rated radio music program. The skills acquired led Eric to his ongoing career as an Audio Recording Mixer, specializing in dialogue for animation. In recognition of his work, he has received multiple professional award nominations, including a 2013 Daytime Emmy Award nomination. In addition, Eric was honored by the Cinema Audio Society with their 2006 award for Outstanding Sound Mixing.

Eric resides in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Winnetka with his wife, Virginija, and their two young sons, Rokas and Lukas.
