By Pamela D. Vasserman

Candidate for Commissioner; Township of Abington; Ward 4; Republican Party

This information is provided by the candidate
My name is Pamela Vasserman and I would like to introduce myself because I am running for Abington Ward 4 Commissioner. I live at 130 Church Road near Township Line Road.
For years, I have been involved in Abington organizations and activities, such as the McKinley Civic Association, Abington Art Center, Briar Bush Nature Center, and Abington PAL. I volunteer each year at different Abington events, such as the Abington PAL Food Festival, the McKinley 4th of July Parade, Keep the Parade Running 5k, Roslyn Fall Festival and Car Show, and the Abington PAL Elvis Benefit Concert. I want to continue having these events and more, to bring our community together. I also volunteer as a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters and also with the National LeioMyoSarcoma Foundation.

I have been an advocate of Ward 4 and am proud to be encouraging the redevelopment plan of Township Line. For the past few years, Commissioner Jay O'Connor has been working on the redevelopment plan of the Township Line Corridor to improve all of Ward 4. I have and will continue to work with township leaders on issues important to Ward 4, such as public safety and business development.

I grew up in West Virginia, but chose Temple University for my undergraduate degree in Political Science and Religion then my graduate degree at Drexel University in Public Policy with an emphasis in government affairs and non-profit management. My educational background gives me the knowledge to understand township and government issues, such as; public safety, development, urban planning, and economic development. I manage a multi-million dollar budget and work with community and government officials on a daily basis. With my education and work experience, I understand how an efficient and effective government runs.

Currently I work at the Sunshine Foundation, as their National Director of Development. We grant wishes across the country to terminally and chronically ill, physically and mentally challenged, and abused children. I have written policy papers used to educate government officials on certain issues such as Marcellus Shale drilling and the PA education system. I now have worked for years in the nonprofit sector caring for others in disability and medical research and political religious organizations and now I want to advocate for the residents of Ward 4. To see more of my experience, go to my website at http://www.Vote4Vasserman.com.

I have a wonderful husband, Nathan, who went to Penn State Abington for his undergraduate and Drexel University for his graduate degree and has worked for Abington Township for almost a decade. We have two dogs, Maria and Sandy. We are deeply rooted in the Abington and Philadelphia region.
