Charlie Silio is a Principal with Element Partners, a private equity firm in Radnor, PA focused on fast-growing energy, environmental, and industrial technology businesses. At Element, Charlie has made investments in companies that provide environmental services to the oil and gas drilling market; that develop and sell natural, safe pesticides; and that manufacture wind turbine blades, on-vehicle natural gas fueling systems for heavy-duty trucks and buses, and biomass fuel for residential heating. He is currently leading firm efforts regarding technology for transportation and logistics, traffic, and parking.

Prior to joining Element, Charlie worked in private equity and distressed investing at D. E. Shaw & Co. in New York and London. Prior to D. E. Shaw & Co., Charlie was an Associate at Chicago-based private equity firm GTCR, where his transaction experience included companies engaged in automated meter reading, power generation, IT services, and transaction processing. He began his career as a technology, media and telecommunications investment banker at Lazard.

Charlie holds an MBA with Honors from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, an MSc. with Distinction in Politics of the World Economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a BSE with High Honors in Civil Engineering and Operations Research from Princeton University. Charlie is also a CFA charterholder.

He is married to Emily Snell, a researcher focused on early childhood health and education policies. They have three children: Conrad (6), Theo (5), and Evelyn (2).
