Public participation is the lifeblood of a healthy community.As a government "of the people, for the people and by the people", it is my duty to encourage participation of the constituency. We all have our own particular gifts and ways that we can use them for the betterment of the community. Whether that means running for office, volunteering for a board or commission, making a public comment at a council meeting or simply writing a note to a council member or the Borough Manager with a suggestion, we can all help to make our town the best it can be. Kennett Square is blessed with many ways to get involved, from government, to volunteering during the Kennett Run, helping out with an After the Bell program or simply helping your neighbor shovel their sidewalk in the winter. I applaud the activities of organizations such as the Kennett Food Cupboard and the Mushroom Festival for their selfless works in helping those less fortunate or offering grants for the greater good. By helping others we help ourselves. |
