? 1. How would you promote good nutrition in your schools?

Answer from Kris Barcus:

I would educate students about healthy food choices and an active lifestyle. Then I would make sure to provide healthy choices at school so that students could implement those lessons learned independently.

Answer from James B. Frees, II:

Proper nutrition is essential to our students today. It is very important to work with our students to promote along with encourage proper nutrition. Our school is involved in a "well ness program" that promotes good nutrition.

Answer from Debbie J. "Deb" Eddinger:

Assuring there is a variety of nutritional foods availabile is a start. In order to encourage students and staff to make good nutritional choices that develop and promote a healthy life style may require educational efforts, e.g,
1. Opportunities exist within the curriculum being delivered, i.e. focus students efforts on the healthy effects of making good choices as well as the risks involved with developing bad nutritional choices.
2. Partner with community groups that promote wellness and work with students to enhance awareness of nutritional options, portion control, positive effects of developing healthy eating habits as well as the risk factors of obesity.

Answer from William Kleinfelter:

I would provide programs that teach children the importance of eating health and having an active life style. Making sure that they understand the importance that eating health foods and exercising is something that is important while at school and at home. The students need to understand the importance of making health choices at a young age so they posses those traits when they become adults.

Answer from Melissa C. Booth:

Educate our youth of nutritional values. Promote and offer the best nutritional options for their daily needs and encourage their use of this information in their daily lives. Encourage their involvement in physical activity and encourage their willingness to experiment with nutritional foods.
