I am serving my last year of a 4 year term. There are many things that I would like to see through that have not been completed yet. Ex. AYP, Common Core Standards, Keystone Exams, Teacher Evaluations, PSERS, etc...

I am most passionate about:

  • Our district not making AYP and the upcoming Keystone Exams. Time and change has made Baldwin-Whitehall a lot more culturally and economically diverse than it used to be. I do not think we have conquered these challenges well. I think we are on the right track now with Dr. Lutz and Dr. Sedlacek. I feel it is not enough to look good we need to be good for all students.

  • I am concerned that college may not be the best choice for all students. Some trades can not find people to fill positions. I am currently serving on the Steel Center Executive Council for Workforce Education and Development

  • District State Report Card .... This will not only affect our students/parents but will also affect each of our buildings and be a part of the new Teacher's Evaluations Program. I am a current member of the PA Department of Education Committee for the PA School Performance Report Card.

  • I continue to keep myself up to date on the changes in education as well as state and federal funding by taking workshops through out the year through the Allegheny County Intermediate Unit and the PA School Board Association. I also participate in online webinars at http://www.edweek.org

  • I am a fan of transparency and parent involvement. I would like to see our School Board Meetings video taped and put on the web so that parents and taxpayers can view them at their convenience. One of our chief responsibilities is to maintain two-way communication between the board and students, employees, parents, taxpayers and the community.

  • I am the current board representative to SHASDA (South Hills Area School Districts Association)

  • I am the current board representative for PSBA (PA School Board Association)

B-W has a lot to offer our students. I am going to continue to fight for the children in B-W and the taxpayers. I want to see the ALL kids get a quality education in B-W. I don't always vote the popular vote but I hope my vote is the proper vote.
