Improving the Quality of Life in the West Valley

The Third District hasn't been getting its fair share for years. Joyce knows its time to redirect money toward our local services to improve our quality of life.
As our Councilwoman in the West Valley, Joyce will work to:

Give Us Local Control Over Local West Valley Issues:

  • Restrict Residential density and stop the flow of new, high-density residential developments in our neighborhoods
  • Improve the number and types of businesses we allow in our area (medical marijuana & adult shops, party houses)
  • Provide sufficient parking for our businesses with overflow parking into city-designated areas
  • Protect our commercial and industrial areas from being rezoned, and work within a master development plan for the West Valley
  • Restructure DWP rates for water usage and sewerage in our neighborhoods

Improve Our Neighborhood Streets:

  • Dedicate paving trucks to District 3 and the West Valley
  • Increase the number of trucks for tree trimming in our area
  • Ensure our streets receive equal repairs as other areas in Los Angeles
  • Establish a grid and timetable for our local streets to be refurbished

Relieve Traffic in the West Valley:

  • Clean up traffic congestion and promote reliable, convenient and affordable public transit
  • Serve as a traffic facilitator and mediator to drive the Department of Transportation into making corrections: strategically placed stop signs, speed bumps, etc.
  • Coordinate traffic lights to improve traffic flow
  • Demand a subway from the West Valley to the West Side of Los Angeles
  • Return the landscaped medians to our Boulevards

Strengthen Our Neighborhood Councils:

  • Advocate for our local Neighborhood Councils and work with them to increase their role in our local government
  • Reduce bureaucratic requirements for participation in the Neighborhood Councils
  • Bring awareness of Neighborhood Councils to residents and encourage involvement in the process

Invest In 3rd District Public Parks:

  • Make sure money District 3 neighborhood parks receive equal funding as downtown and westside parks
  • Fix gopher and burrowing animal infestations
  • Paint, plant and revitalizing our West Valley park ameniti
