Pension Reform

By Jesse "David" Barron

Candidate for Council Member; City of Los Angeles; District 7

This information is provided by the candidate
City employees must share the cost.
I've been advocating for several years, that the city go from a defined pension plan to a defined contribution plan. City employees need to share the cost instead of burdening the taxpayer with the entire cost of their pension plan. The Personnel department should conduct a salary and benefit survey to determine wages equal to the private sector.

Also, the Personnel Department should conduct negotiations with all union leaders at the same time, in order to assure that they are on an equitable salary scale.

If the City continues with their same failed policies of implementing an unsustainable budget and continues with their wreckless spending, employees retirement age could go past 70 years old
