This information is provided by the candidate
Business, Education, Equality, Real Estate and Safety are top priorities. Together we can make Elk Grove a place to live, work, shop and for recreation.
My name is LaWanna Montgomery a resident of Elk Grove since 1993. It will be a honor and pleasure to represent District 4. If appointed to become your city council member, I will do everything in my power to uphold the integrity, transparency and accountability of office. I will always remember, I work for you the people and together our city will thrive. My twin daughters, who are attending two different Universities are headed back to school for their second semester to study hard. While away at school learning for countless hours and cramming for finals, I want them to know their mother is home, fighting for them a brighter future. A Place Where Dreams Come True. I believe that jobs, attracting businesses, while retaining current businesses, building the Mall, infrastructure, affordable housing, sports and education are top priorities. Does Elk Grove have everything you need? I believe we need more to make Elk Grove a one stop shop. A place where all your needs are met. As an educator, business owner and parent of twins I believe we have a commitment to the success of our citizens. I am currently the CEO/President/Founder of the Reach Learning Center, substitute teacher for the Elk Grove Unified School District and served on the School Site Council at Cosumnes Oaks High School. I graduated with a BA from Sacramento State University. I received my teaching certificate from BMED Bilingual Multi-Cultural Education Department. I worked on my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and did my project on Parent Involvement. In addition, I hold a Preliminary Administrative Certificate. I am a State Supplemental Provider approved by the California Department of Education since 2004. My organization tutored over 1000 students in Northern and Southern California. I have taught in the public and private sector. In 2012, I was invited to White House to attend a Business Council Meeting. At the meeting I met many leaders who help to make our country successful. I will bring accountability to the city council's office and bring the focus back to the people. As your City Council Representative, I will be your voice and together we will thrive to make Elk Grove a place to live, raise your family, work, for recreation and much more.
