Mark Scappe brings a confluence of professional and public service experience to the table few can match when it comes to having the right background at the right time to take on the most challenging problems confronting Pennsylvania: creating jobs, re-building our crumbling infrastructure and educating our students.

With 12 years' experience on the Moon Area School Board, most of it as School Board President and 10 years serving on the Moon Transportation Authority (MTA), Mark Scappe has impeccable public service credentials. Blend that with his years of experience building and operating a successful engineering firm, Mark Scappe is uniquely prepared to serve our Commonwealth.

During his tenure on the Moon Area School Board, Mark successfully negotiated six labor contracts, took fiscally responsible steps to eliminate red ink inherited from predecessors, held the line on property taxes and delivered property tax cuts when finances allowed. Under his leadership, the District invested in a new high school, a middle school conversion and upgraded athletic facilities. He worked with school administrators and teachers to keep classroom sizes manageable, curriculums competitive and schools safe learning and working environments for students, teachers and administrators.

At the Moon Transportation Authority, Mark led the way on critical infrastructure expansion projects fully understanding the short and long-term economic benefits of the endeavors. At MTA, Mark successfully pushed for the construction of the International Drive, Thorn Run and Ewing Mill interchanges while leading efforts for the extension of the Cherrington Parkway, highway construction projects putting more than $140 million into the local economy. In April of this year, Mark was in Washington D.C. with the MTA in partnership with the Allegheny County Airport Authority seeking to persuade decision makers in the nation's capital to invest $15 million in federal funding for more area transportation projects.

Mark's engineering firm, RBS Consultants, adds more valuable experience to his understanding of the relationship of infrastructure investment, job creation and economic recovery. His firm has designed and managed more than 50 major infrastructure projects creating thousands of jobs in the process. RBS Consultant's specialty, working with general aviation airports, is particularly relevant to the 44 th Legislative District which is anchored economically by the Pittsburgh International Airport.

Mark Scappe has the right experience at the right time focused on right issues, all coming together in the right way for voters in western Allegheny County.
