Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Alfonso Gambone, Jr.

Candidate for
State Senator; Pennsylvania State Senate; District 1

This information is provided by the candidate

I am a lifelong Pennsylvania resident who firmly believes that we, as a Commonwealth, tax residents too much because we overspend. We fail to provide the proper business environment to inspire job creators to grow our state's economy. The goal of government is to protect its citizens and, at the same time, provide them with opportunities to succeed. Government is supposed to provide people with a "hand up" and not a "hand out." There is major difference between these two concepts.

A "hand out" create nothing but a system of dependency without adding any value in return. A "hand up" lays the foundation for an individual to create success and be independent. An individual's success benefits that person but also creates opportunities for others. A government gives a "hand up" when it identifies waste, eliminates it, and passes that savings on to residents through reinvestment into infrastructure and tax relief. A government gives a "hand up" when it encourages a person to become a job creator and removes obstacles that stand in the way of his or her success. A government gives a "hand up" when it provides a person with a quality education and holds teachers and schools accountable. A government gives a "hand up" when a person can trust it. These are not new principles but they are concepts that my opponents consistently fail to support. We need a state senator with these principles.

We need to grow our state's economy, not our state's government. We need to encourage the job creators with lower taxes, less regulation, and innovative small business programs. We need to put our children on the road to success by ensuring that their education prepares to become productive members of society and not dependent on it. We need to honor our veterans with more than just flags, yellow ribbons and awards but with professional and educational opportunities.

I live by these principles and they form the core of my campaign. They are why I want to represent you as the State Senator for Pennsylvania's 1st District. It is my sincere hope that you will support my campaign and allow me the opportunity to represent you and your family
