Growing up in a working class neighborhood in South West Philadelphia, Sheamus Bonner learned the value of hard work and service. Sheamus's father was a WWII Veteran as well as serving the public as a police officer in Philadelphia. Sheamus's mother worked from home where she also raised their eight children. From his parents, Sheamus learned the value of a strong work ethic and commitment to country. After graduating from West Catholic High School, Sheamus enlisted in the United States Army, and for the past 19 years he has served his country with distinction.

Among his many honors, Sheamus has been a member of the Army's 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He was deployed to various countries including Korea, Bosnia, and the Middle East. Currently, Sheamus is a member of the Army Reserve and the historic First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry (FTPCC). Founded in 1774, FTPCC is the oldest continuous cavalry unit in the United States.

During his deployments, Sheamus was able to experience many different cultures, giving him a unique worldview. It was while he was deployed on September 18, 2008 that Sheamus first learned of the country's financial crisis. As they gathered around a television, he and the other soldiers asked each other how and why this could have happened. It was their feeling that the leaders back home were taking their service for granted. At that moment, Sheamus decided that he wanted to do more to ensure that the American public had the best possible representation.

Over the last couple of years, Sheamus has worked hard to put himself through school, earning a degree from Strayer University, where he graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Business and a focus in Finance. While earning his degree, Sheamus worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections where he was elected to join the elite Corrections Emergency Response Team.

Sheamus lives in Drexel Hill with his wife, Whitney, and two young children. Sheamus enjoys being an active member of the community and belongs to many groups and organizations, including Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Marine Corps League, Upper Darby Historical Society, Delco Property Investors and the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick. In his spare time, Sheamus enjoys spending time in the outdoors, studying history, and promoting environmental sustainability through his organic garden.
