Berns warns young people: Killed or dismembered in Afghanistan is not being patriotic.

BERNS FOR CONGRESS Libertarian Congressional Candidate, 1st District, Ohio News Release: For immediate release, May 16th 2012

Jim Berns tells young people that "Being killed or dismembered in Afghanistan is not being patriotic". "What former 4 star general and president Dwight Eisenhower called the "Military Industrial Complex" wants you to think, that as a soldier, you are going to some far off country to fight and possibly die or be dismembered, in an undeclared, unconstitutional war is somehow patriotic. Don't believe them! After over 10 years of fighting, billions upon billions of our nation's treasure wasted, almost 2,000 dead, over 15,000 wounded, and thousands upon thousands of lives lost - mentally and spiritually, and with no end in sight, how can anyone in their right mind think that the U.S. meddling in Afghanistan is somehow enhancing U.S. security interests? Our aggressive military involvement there makes it more likely that there will be additional attacks here in the U.S. and against Americans around the world. Who benefits from these unconstitutional wars? Maybe the 20 companies listed below each doing more than a billion dollars per year in making war materials. Rank Top Defense Companies (follow links for complete company profiles) Defense Revenue (2010) 1 Lockheed Martin Corp. $10,888,633,000 2 Northrop Grumman Corp. $8,212,891,000 3 Boeing Co. $5,051,984,000 4 General Dynamics Corp. $4,576,415,000 5 Raytheon Co. $4,000,095,309 6 KBR Inc $3,546,554,000 7 L-3 Communications Corp. $3,332,433,000 8 Science Applications International Corp. $3,280,980,000 9 DynCorp International Inc. $2,398,874,000 10 Hewlett-Packard Co. $2,344,325,000 11 Booz Allen Hamilton $2,344,325,000 12 CACI International Inc. $2,059,613,000 13 Harris Corp. $1,993,623,000 14 Computer Sciences Corp. $1,828,670,000 15 ITT Corp. $1,808,674,000 16 Fluor Corp. $1,742,216,000 17 BAE Systems Inc. $1,381,184,000 18 Dell Inc. $1,263,236,000 18 ManTech International Corp. $1,167,928,000 20 United Technologies Corp. $1,121,492,000

As your 1st District Congressman, in order to increase the security of Americans, provide for our common defense, and restore fiscal sustainability, I will support our immediate withdrawal from both Afghanistan and Iraq, allow our rich allies of Europe and Asia to pay for their own defense, and begin the closing of over 600 bases in over 100 countries around the world.
