Candidate for
Board Member; Oxnard School District

Working for you, I have addressed Oxnard's educational needs in local, state and national forums as your Trustee since 2003.

I have taken action to deal with state budget cuts, overcrowding, low student achievement, literacy support and getting away from the failed system of a multi track year round school schedule.

I wrote and helped pass the Living Wage Policy. I supported our new school construction and solar panels.

In 2002 only 16% of students scored in the proficient or advanced category in Language Arts and only 19% in Math. By 2011, these goals were met by 38% and 46% of our students. We have come far, but we have much to do.

Oxnard's students and teachers need our continued support. Technology and training must reach our children. I will support our parents and teachers who have the same goal: a better future for Oxnard's children.

Instruction, materials, health, nutrition and a safe learning environment all play an important part in the education of our children. I will work with city, county, state and federal officials to better Oxnard's future.
