Experience with a Vision
I will work to provide a quality education for all students despite our difficult economic times. I will represent the interests of parents who entrust their children to the OUHSD.

EXPERIENCE: 40 years of service to the OUHSD: 15 as teacher and 25 years as school administrator, district Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent. Assisted with planning and design of Oxnard and Pacifica High Schools. Provided leadership for passage of the 2004 Measure H school bond.

COMMUNITY: Oxnard resident for 47 years. Member of Rotary Club of Oxnard for 32 years. Six-year volunteer Ombudsman for Ventura County Long Term Care Services. Past Commissioner and Commission chairperson for the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

FAMILY: Wife retired high school teacher. Four adult children, all graduates of Oxnard High School and now serving as public school educators.

EDUCATION: Doctorate in Education: Curriculum and Instruction, USC. B.A. and M.A. in English Language and Literature, Loyola University of Los Angeles.

I will support efforts to increase student achievement, maintain safe schools, forge strong parent groups, link with community partners, articulate with K-8 feeder school districts, and improve students' college readiness for Community Colleges, CSUCI, and other schools of higher education.
