Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Karyn Pulley

Candidate for
Board Member; Cotati/Rohnert Park Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate

Karyn Pulley is seeking re-election as school board trustee for CRPUSD. She has given in excess of 20 years of volunteer service to the school district, and most recently has completed 8 years as a school board member. Currently she serves as Clerk of the school board. Karyn's leadership has been inclusive of serving as past board president and most recently, as an elected delegate to California School Boards Association.

Karyn has worked hard and used her leadership experience with other organizations, to help the district to remain financially solvent given the status of declining enrollment. By conducting district business in a financially responsible manner, it has allowed for the implementation of the most money available. When allocating money, Karyn has made it a priority to maintain and fund educational programs such as music, athletics, and library services for the youth of CRPUSD. Karyn is very proud of her work as a board member, where she has given oversight to the district bond projects, specifically the stadium building at RCHS.

A priority for Karyn continues to be effective communication, among her peers, educators, staff, and district administration. Karyn believes that to reach the stated desired goals, much effort must be put forth to work collaboratively. Karyn embraces the ideals that every youth is a lifelong learner, so she too, has continued her education, completing the Master's in Governance program of CSBA.

Karyn has a strong desire to continue to provide educational programs and opportunities, that will allow graduates of Rohnert Park and Cotati schools, to be proficient in thinking and communicating as successful member's in today's 21st Century. Academic rigor can be combined in a variety of diverse methods, so that we have youth graduating with certification in training programs, skilled in trades technology, or prepared to accept the challenge of higher education through an advanced college degree.

In light of the state budget, and declining enrollment, it is in the best interest of the school district to have experienced leadership and representation on the school board. Karyn Pulley can and is able to continue serving as an experienced and knowledgeable trustee.
