What are your main areas of interest in Oceanside City Government? Credibility as a City, economic stability and transparency and, providing services in a fair, efficient, effective and friendly manner.

What relevant experience can you bring to this position? As a volunteer, I have been involved in positive changes for the City of Oceanside for over two decades. I have successfully built and operated a small business for 36 years. My firm has acted as the benefits manager and consultant for people and companies who can't afford a full time benefits manager providing the following services:

Developing and Managing healthcare benefits portfolios for small to mid-sized State and local businesses throughout California and San Diego County to ensure appropriate coverage to thousands of employees and individuals.
Working with client management to provide cost savings through budget analysis and Benefits portfolio development congruent with company's annual budgetary projections.
Providing oversight of State and Federal regulations to ensure businesses are safeguarded against exposure to serious liabilities.
Trouble shooting and problem solving roadblocks to benefits approvals and various coverage issues.
Providing Personal, professional Client support services to businesses, families and individuals in an expedient manner.

What community Organizations and Associations have you served?

I have served our community in the following capacities:

Neighborhood Watch captain and president of the Missions at Ivey Ranch Homeowners Association;
Board Member for Oceanside's Canine Companions; I served two terms on the Canine Companions for Independence board. I helped them take bare dirt and turn it into a debt free privately funded state of the art facility to help people lead more independent lives with assistance dogs;
First producer of Journalist Roundtable for KOCT, the Oceanside Cable Access Channel;
Chairman of Community Access to Automatic Heart Defibrillators;
Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, Board member and Past President;
Chamber Executive Committee Past Chairman of the Board;
Oceanside Rotary, Board of Directors and past President;
Citizen Advocate for Better Healthcare for Seniors and Children.

I bring over 30 years of professional executive business experience, customer service and leadership skills; I am proficient at multi level, high volume records keeping, IT filing systems development and tracking management and, scheduling procedures.

I have studied and understand the City of Oceanside's budget.

Working with client management to provide on time cost savings through budget analysis and Benefits portfolio development congruent with company's annual budgetary projections.

Providing oversight of State and Federal regulations to ensure businesses are safeguarded against exposure to serious liabilities through Compliance with deadlines and notification periods

Trouble shooting and problem solving roadblocks to benefits approvals and various coverage issues.

Education: I attended Ohio State University and am a graduate of the Call School of Design, 1974. I have benefitted in continuing educational opportunities over the years which include workshops, seminars and programs such as ADP's "mini MBA," Certified Employee Benefits Specialist from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and other trade programs.
