For forty years, I have served our south county community proudly as a teacher, school principal, superintendent and university lecturer.

I have also given 30 years of service as a member of the Sweetwater/National City Kiwanis Club and served on the board of directors for South Bay Community Services, Catholic Charities, and the First Five Commission of San Diego County.

In 2007, I retired from the National School District after 35 years of service, including 16 years as district superintendent. During this timeframe, National received nation-wide acclaim as one of the most successful and progressive school districts in San Diego County based on sustained student achievement, distinguished school awards, positive district climate, and quality of classroom instruction.

In 2007, I accepted an invitation to serve as the Department Coordinator of the Educational Leadership Program at San Diego State University where I also taught numerous leadership courses in school finance, supervision and evaluation, parent involvement, and education law. I fully retired in 2011.

My candidacy offers the community someone who has been a proven leader committed to excellence, made tough, yet fair, budget choices, engaged parents/community members, and developed respectful relationships at all levels.
