Occupation: Governing Board Member, Santa Clara County Board of Education
Education and Qualifications:
Thank you for the opportunity to represent you on the Santa Clara County Board of Education as your local trustee. I ask for your vote to continue to safeguard and strengthen the public education system in our county.

In recent years, the Santa Clara County Board of Education has been inundated with an unprecedented number of applications for local charter schools. As a mom of two school-aged boys, I welcome innovation and competition within our current public education system.

However, as I have reviewed numerous charter applications, I have found not all applications are the same. Some well-written charters offer benefits to public education as a whole, but other charters hurt the public education community in the long run.

This Governing Board work now takes extensive research to learn details of state law and listen to affected communities. I have the experience and the knowledge to carry on.

I am proud to be endorsed for reelection by Assemblymembers Bob Wieckowski and Paul Fong, Berryessa Trustee David Cohen, Santa Clara Trustees Dr. Christine Koltermann and Jim Canova, East Side Trustee Frank Biehl, Supervisor George Shirakawa, West Valley-Mission Community College District Trustee Christopher Stampolis, Councilmembers Kansen Chu and Kevin Moore and many others. I ask you to vote for Anna E. Song too. asongdist5@aol.com
