PTA Candidate Forum Closing Statement

As a Board Member, I will put the needs of our students first. We need to improve achievement for all students.

This is an important election.

Over the last five years and more, our school board majority has followed a path that prioritizes what district staff wants at the expense of what parents and community members demand and what would be best for our children.

We need new direction.

As a school board member, I commit to you that I will put the needs of our students first.

I will demand accountability from district staff to ensure that:

· they RESPOND to parent demands for high-achieving academic programs

· they work WITH our parents to INCREASE achievement for all students

· they spend our limited resources CAREFULLY.

· They demand accountability from school site administrators and staff.

We can do this.

We can do this if we have a board ready to assume a leadership role in advocating improvement in all areas of our district.

It is the right thing to do.
