Smart Voter Official Statement for Leah K. Read

Candidate for
Board Member; Campbell Union School District

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

Occupation: Incumbent/Parent
Education and Qualifications:
As a parent with a child in the Campbell Union School District, I have a personal connection to the district and the community it serves. Over the past fourteen years I have been actively engaged in improving the educational experience of our children by volunteering in the classroom, participating in the home and school organization and serving as a district governing board member since 2006.

During my tenure on the board we have been able to improve the quality of education and see the Academic Performance Index (API) rise from 772 in 2006 to 834 in 2011. We continue to offer full day kindergarten, summer school, after school enrichment programs and have some of the smallest class sizes in the county despite the economic uncertainty and budget challenges the district has faced.

As a Board Member, I will remain committed to improving the quality of education for our children. My focus will be on maintaining the highest educational standards, balancing the curriculum, attracting and retaining high caliber teachers, continuing to promote parent involvement, all while sustaining the financial health of our district.

Together we can continue to improve the quality of our schools. I appreciate your vote.
