Smart Voter Official Statement for Jim Neal

Candidate for
Council Member; City of Mountain View

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

Occupation: System Administrator
Age: 48
Education and Qualifications:
We need new representation. I will bring my energy, new ideas, and private sector experience to address the following:

1. Boondoggle. High Speed Rail is something most of us don't want and none of us can afford. I will fight against it so we can keep the Mountain View that we all love.

2. Bans. Lately, cities everywhere want to ban everything and Mountain View doesn't appear to be an exception. The city is trying to ban plastic bags and drive-throughs. Will sodas and salt be next? I will fight to place limits on government, not on you.

3. Balance. There must be a balance between the environment and people. Is saving a tree worth losing affordable housing? Is a new bike path worth cutting down 100 trees?

4. Budget. Over 80% of the city's general fund goes to salaries and pensions. All new city employees should be required to have the same 401k as most of us, saving the city millions.

5. Blue Sky. I want detailed transcripts of everything said at council meetings so you know how each member voted and why.
