Candidate for
Trustee; San Jose Unified School District; Trustee Area 1

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

Occupation: Business Analyst/Parent
Age: 45
Education and Qualifications:
Growing up I learned the importance of education from my family. As a product of public education I understand the vital role it plays in shaping the future of our children and our entire community. I am proud to have grown up attending public schools, earning a degree in psychology and a master's degree from public universities.

I have been an active parent in our local schools since my oldest son entered kindergarten in 2004. I have served as Chair of the School Site Council, President of the Horace Mann Elementary School Foundation, coached my son's basketball teams and recently helped save Lake Cunningham Skate Park. I love my family and work hard every day to make the world a place where they can thrive.

To the School Board I will bring experience working for private and public agencies analyzing and auditing government policies and budgets to ensure that limited resources are maximized. I will apply these skills so that all students receive the best education possible and have every opportunity to realize their full potential.

On the School Board I will be guided by three core values:

Accountability - Board members are accountable to the public for the expenditure of funds and delivery of high quality educational services.

Opportunity - Every student should have an opportunity to learn new skills and gain new knowledge in the classroom, every day.

Community - Parents, students, teachers, staff, and taxpayers are all partners in our education system. Working together we can improve the quality of education and the opportunities available to students.

I hope you will join community leaders such as State Senator Joe Simitian, County Supervisors Liz Kniss and Mike Wasserman, San Jose Councilmember Sam Liccardo and dedicated parent leaders like Laura Justus Wolford and Dr. Lisa Gonzales who are supporting my campaign.

By participating in this election, you are giving me the cherished opportunity to serve our community and our children.

I'd be honored to receive your vote.
