My name is Jerry Marsalli and I am running for Santa Clara City Council Seat No. 4 in the upcoming November election. I am a lifelong resident of Santa Clara. I attended local schools, joined the Santa Clara Police Department, and graduated from San Jose State. I am now retired after spending 30 years serving the community that I love. I remain active in various civic organizations and served as a member of the Santa Clara Parks & Recreation Commission for the past 8 years.

I grew up here when orchards outnumbered shopping centers and technology companies. My family has called Santa Clara home for over 100 years. I have witnessed Santa Clara develop from a small town community into a city that is home to some of the leading hi-tech companies in the world. This presents both exciting opportunities and challenges for us.

My priorities as a City Councilmember are straightforward:

  • Provide the very best city services possible in all areas: public safety, utilities, roads, libraries, parks and all the basic needs you expect and deserve from your city government.
  • Ensure that your city government is open, accessible, transparent and accountable.
  • Enhance our business climate, increase city revenue through economic development and focus on keeping our budget balanced.
  • Preserve our neighborhoods and the quality of life we enjoy.

I have been married to my wife Nancy for 40 years; we raised three children together, and are the proud grandparents of a two year old granddaughter.

I ask for your support and vote on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Thank you for your consideration.
