Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Diane T. Gordon

Candidate for
Board Member; Campbell Union High School District

This information is provided by the candidate

Since my re-election four years ago CUHSD has seen drastic cuts to education by the State. Despite these reductions we have balanced the budget, improved course offerings and test scores and made significant facility improvements at all of our sites. We have done this by embracing the challenges, developing partnerships and support within the community. We cannot fail our students. Students must always come first.

During the last four years we have accomplished:
- Added languages: Mandarin and American Sign Language
- Added Advanced Placement offerings
- Developed a new Engineering program
- Completed 5 new Performing Arts Centers
- Improved State API scores and increased participation in API classes
- Developed a new modular method of installing solar energy structures saving millions of dollars. It includes a mechanism to provide students scholarships.
- Improved graduation rate
- Taken over management of adult education allowing more students to graduate and more adults to take classes.
- Invested in Citrix technology that enables us to virtualize applications.

In the next four years I will continue to advocate for:
- All Students, academics, activities and athletics
- Career Technical Education
- Adult education
- Student safety
- Bullying Prevention
- More Community involvement
- Business Partnerships
- Maintaining a balanced budget

It has been an honor to serve on the CUHSD Board of Trustees. I know we must continue to build and foster relationships in the community and we must maintain a balanced budget through proper stewardship of the district's finances. We must think outside the box and find new ways to provide educational opportunities for students while maintaining fiscal responsibility. I am committed to work on behalf of our students, our staff and our community.

I appreciate your consideration on November 6th.
