Incumbent for San Jose/Evergreen Community College District

Since 2009, I have represented District 7 with dedication and commitment. I have engaged with my colleagues, in creating opportunities for students to access quality educational experiences that empower them to become agents of social, economic and political change in our communities. As a Trustee, educator, and advocate, I act on what is important to foster student success, educational quality, and institutional effectiveness through policy development and prudent financial actions.

For over 30 years, I have worked as an elementary school teacher, counselor, administrator, and community college teacher and director. My life has been dedicated to serving diverse students within our public education system with an outstanding cadre of public workers. I have also served as a leader of a number of organizations seeking to improve the conditions of children and families; served on school committees; and continue to lead civic engagement and community organizing efforts at De Anza College and in the community as part of my own civic engagement.
